There are about twenty of you interested in writing this year for Blackstack, but there's always room for more so here's some topics and instructions to submit.
My love, Caro, there is always space for you because we need movie write-ups and music breakdowns by the girls! There is space for you here, send it over when you are ready and I will make sure I curate it for the community to enjoy!
That Black Sustainability topic is something I've been writing on for my publication to post so I am excited to see where your thoughts are on the topic.
I asked two writers to start a piece on this topic, so Maya please write about the Black experience as a biracial person. The more stories the better, so I am looking forward to your submission now!
You might be becoming one of my favorite people here on this platform, Andree! The support is unmatched coming from you! I appreciate you more than you know and I am looking forward to reading and curating your piece explaining Why You Write! Oh this is going to be a full circle moment next year when I'm mailing your second copy of the Blackstack Magazine! I appreciate your support so much!
You made my day, for real Sis! Thank you so much. I plan to get started on it and don't want to miss your deadline since I'm teaching starting next week, have a training in Chicago to attend, and more coming. I will be on the lookout for your instructions, word length, all that. If I missed it, apologies and I hope you'll point me to it!
I still need your Substack link it’s for my checks and balances but you can select that you only want it in Print. And when it comes in all know not to publish it here.
No word length or guidelines. This is everything you have creative freedom to write what you’d like to submit. When you are ready come back to this post on your desktop so you can see the link to submit earlier.
Thank you so much -- I checked out the link to submit. I'd like to write something just for Blackstack Magazine, so is it okay to put "N/A" in the Substack publication link?
In-person writing sessions! Yes, please! So excited to have found this community! I'm definitely planning to submit in the living in the present whilst living in the dream category. Thank you for the opportunity to share and be a part of a beautiful melanated space!💜
Ooooo are you in the Bay Area? I'll be hosting quarter in-person sessions in Oakland, the Writers Retreat will be in Oakland in October, and the First Sunday of every month I host Writers Circle on Zoom. The RSVP link is the chat right now, but a newsletter is going out today with the link too.
I am so excited you found us and I look forward to connecting with you more! Living in the present whilst living in a dream is my life these days so I can't wait to read about your experience!
Thank you so much! And yes, I'm in the YAY AREA! My vampire lifestyle prevents me from morning Zoom seshes, but I'm way into writing sessions in Oakland! Looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds! Thanks again for bringing us together!🦋🦋🦋
On it sis! At this point, I am supporting everything from this collective. Selling water? Shirts? Shoes? Books? Spending my Black dollars and giving my Black ass time to all of it.
Ah! I'm so glad we already talked! Danielle, like I told Sage, with love and support I'm on your ass this year to make sure I get your work published! But I know you are going to submit something so good! I can't wait!
Ooooo I’m so glad you picked that topic! I cannot wait to read what you write! I know it’s going to be soooo good. Originally the conversation was about how the Black church protected the image of Black men, but I’m curious to see if anyone brings it up in their writing.
Of course poetry is welcome! The first issue is filled with poetry so I’d love to keep poetry included! Great question looking forward to your submission!
i ride hard for movies about the black experience and for music by weird black girls. if there’s room to submit, i’m ready 🤲🏾

I’m excited to curate your words again!
I’m thinking a combo special of building black sustainability and living in the moment while living in a dream 😴

I can't wait to read what you submit!
i'd love to contribute something about the biracial black experience if that's something that might be acceptable!
I asked two writers to start a piece on this topic, so Maya please write about the Black experience as a biracial person. The more stories the better, so I am looking forward to your submission now!
I am thinking about a Why I Write piece and would love to contribute.

I'll be meditating on a Black Church related, iconoclastic topic. 😆✌🏽

I'm very interested in submitting, thank you for the ideas!!
I’m looking forward to reading your words! Which topic sparks your interest?
There are a few topics for which I'd like to submit. Only articles or would poetry be considered?
