December Writers Circle
It's almost the first of the month, which means our monthly First Sunday gathering is approaching fast. This is our last one for the year.
One thing in the magazine that is heavy on my heart to include is a reflective timeline of Black culture just this year alone. Katt Williams shocked us all at the beginning of the year by setting the tone that 2024 would be the year that the truth is revealed.
The truth specifically about how our culture has been whitewashed at the hands of Black-faced puppets who we once viewed as kinfolk. Then they started to be exposed, one by one.
Blackstack being launched on Juneteenth this year will hold a divine reason in the future for us to understand, but right now I am grateful I did it blindly.
I’m grateful I stuck to the plan without knowing the end result.
I’m grateful this community has fulfilled a cultural need this year.
I‘m grateful I wrote my book about freeing ourselves from cultural conditionings and published it the same year, bringing me to Substack.
I’m grateful for you, yes you!
Without you, Blackstack would be a dead publication page. Without you, there would be no newsletter series every week and month if you weren’t writing to contribute. Without you, there would be no magazine because what would we be reading?
The first post on Blackstack was THIS revolution will not be televised, and I had no idea it would become a movement.
What was your first post about on your publication page, and when you read your words from then, how do they resonate with you now?
We will dive deeper into this on Sunday at our last Writers Circle of 2024. Now, I do need your help for those who can attend, are we feeling a Christmas playlist or the normal vibes?

See you on Sunday!

So happy to be here! My first essay hear on Substack was titled "Writers Write" and looking back I know I was telling that to myself as much as I was reminding others too. And ever since then, the writer in me has indeed been writing! 🎉🎉💃💃🩷🩷
You’re such a force. Grateful for the way you pour in and for the people. Appreciate you.
