my hair felt like velcro being peeled apart as she shampooed my hair. I knew right then that this b*tch had just burnt my hair and it was washing down the drain at the shampoo bowl.
Loved all of the differences and similarities in you ladies' stories. My history with my hair is complicated but I feel most natural and beautiful with a low cut, little to no hair at all. Thank y'all for sharing y'all's stories!
So happy to hear you enjoyed the read, Brittany! Our hair sometimes holds more value to us than we may realize. Can’t wait to see what journey you decide to take with your hair!!!
You ladies are all so beautiful!!! We hold so much trauma, beauty and self-discovery in our hair stories. Y’all inspired me to get to writing my own!!! Thank you for your hearts and vulnerability 🙏🏾🤗🤗
Thank you for reading and commenting! Once you writing it feel free to share it with us to include in the next hair stories we have them coming every month! Or tag us and we will include your post as more reads! 🫶🏾
These beautiful faces in varying styles. I loved the showing of different phases of your life through photos along with the stories. How dynamic! Melanin is so damn beautiful!!! Well done!! Our hair stories are as dynamic as the beautifully melaninated faces I saw while reading this article. Powerful just like the women who wrote them. 🙏🏾
This is all so relatable because I shaved my hair off to give myself a fresh start after a challenging point in my life. I saw it as a way to witness my growth physically through the strands coming in.
It’s something so empowering for a woman when she embarks on a new journey. When I get to itching to cut my hair I know the journey home is not complete. But once this hair grows back I’m so excited to see how healthy and beautiful it’s going to be, because your hair is THRIVING Rachel! Thank you for reading and commenting it’s always a treat to see you here!

Thank you Ashleigh as always! Let me know if you want to share yours we got a series going…
I'm late to reading this but what a gem of a collection! 💎 These stories unlocked some old hair memories for me! (I can smell the pink lotion.)
I yearn to see the day where Black women's hair can just be. Just. Be.
The Pink lotion was the go to back then and I want my Grandma to be released for the shackles of Pink lotion lol.
However I agree, I can’t wait for the day our hair can just be!
I’m deep into thoughts about my hair-wanting a change, a desire for freedom. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!
