This has me in tears. I closed my eyes and took a minute. I went back to the family dinners we would have in my mom’s apartment. Her small space didn’t stop her from cooking for all of my siblings and their children, even though she only gave birth to two of us. She mothered and fed all 5. She put up card tables and we all sat down together to enjoy her food together. Thank you for all of this and all that you do for us. 🙏🏽♥️
Thank you for sharing. Your remembering flashed me back to playing uno with my family after dinners were done at Grandma Vons house. The laughter in that room was palpable. 🖤
I remember a Christmas with my family like this and I carry that picture with me to every Writers Circle. Wow. Thank you for that connection and memory!!! It’s so beautiful to have that memory while your mom is experiencing her children cooking and making memories for her now! ❤️🤗
🥀✨️I Love Thys 🫰🏾😂.. and now I'm Hungry 😮💨. .. thys post made my heart smile 🥰. My Grams passed her cookbook & Giant Cast Iron Skillet down to me. The ONLY grandchild with both in his possession. .. and I Love it. Thys post made me feel warm.. yet miss parts of my Tribe that have passed on to Glory 🕊.. the way family is supposed to be. Whew! Thanks for thys moment 💜. ..
This comment really touched my heart and it reminds me of my great grandmother. I also have her cast iron and she taught me to cook garden to table. Sunday dinner for me is how family is supposed to be still. Some of the traditions I hate we got away from. Thank you so much for this comment touched my heart.
SN: I was trying to make this newsletter feel as close to sitting at the dinner table as possible so mission accomplished!!! With enough time to let the chicken thaw out lol 😂
Thank you!!! It was this random download as I was trying to piece it all together and the moment it clicked the piece came together. This is probably my new favorite piece from a creative perspective.
This really made me happy and nostalgic reading this. Remembering the holiday dinners and my aunts and cousins. This article made me look at why these memories are so precious, why the fill us and give us hope. Food for the soul, amazing job!

I’m smiling as I reply to you GG, thank you!
Wow this was well put together. I love how you compared soul food to astrology. That was genius.
