Black Reads: Issue 013
In case you missed some reads from this month, I got you covered in this week's "Black Reads". And a few updates for the people.
Since it’s the last Wednesday of the month, I wanted to try something new. I’ve never published a “Black Reads” highlighting all of the Blackstack newsletters from the month. Maybe that rest day last Sunday sparked a new wave of creativity.
We will keep the annual paid subscriptions priced at $30 for the rest of the year. Thank you to all the new paid subscribers and continued supporters of the mission. Don’t forget you get a complimentary study session, so be on the lookout for your special links in a paid subscriber’s newsletter.
My last update, the fundraiser for the Blackstack Magazine: Issue One physical copies, has ended. Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser. We have a fully operating print publishing press thanks to you! While we didn’t hit the goal of a hundred preorders, we came close when you include the contributing writers’ orders. All orders are currently in production, and you can expect updates with your tracking number starting next week.
I love the work I’ve been blessed to do, and thank each of you for believing in me. We built something special, with a foundation to last!

Back Of The Bus By Choice
Generational curse breakers to the back of the bus, we don’t need to be front row because the revolution is not ever televised. It’s documented through the literature preserved, telling the story of their experience in the same system we continue to fight against.
Black Reads: Issue 010
It’s been a while since I provided a list of reads that have triggered my thoughts, and I want y’all to share this experience with me. I had a little help with curating this week’s “Black Reads”. The paragraph below is from my daughter, who read a couple of these essays with me, and wanted to make sure y’all did too.
Black Reads: Issue 011
Every month, I set my calendar with high expectations for myself, and “Black Reads” always has a theme until I curate the newsletter. Truthfully, I’m battling with myself the whole day before it publishes because I ask myself every time why can’t I stick to the theme? The truth is, this ain’t that newsletter, and I really need to let it go.
Black Reads: Issue 012
I come to you today feeling hella Pro-Black, and I mean on my Black Panther service programs time of ish. The definition of subvert is to undermine the power of an established system or institution. Substack is the modern-day subvert platform; the Black Codes put in place right after slavery ended.
Beta Reader: Born to be Scorned
Born To Be Scorned is a book that will have you locked in through the storytelling, struggling to put it down. How we have grown so attached to our cell phones is how KC O’Conner was able to keep the readers’ attention with this storyline. I do want to give a trigger warning; this read will reflect heavy grief.
